A celebration of the humble city pigeon, one of the most overlooked yet fascinating birds in urban Europe. This richly detailed 5-colour illustration is drawn and then hand-printed by artist Lauren Jaye Squires onto a Stanley/Stella tee, using water-based inks on 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton.
Why Pigeons? The city pigeon is the descendant of the Rock Dove, originally domesticated as a source of food, has since made our ever-expanding cities its home. Look closely in the sunlight and you'll see their plumage shimmer with a metallic sheen of green, blue, and purple. They come in every shade from deep black and grey to a warm rusty red. They are far more beautiful than we give them credit for.
